Colin McLaren Joins Solana Policy Institute as Engagement Director

Tuesday, April 9, 2025 — Solana Policy Institute (SPI) continues to build its bench of Washington changemakers with the addition of Colin McLaren as Engagement Director. Colin brings a unique blend of crypto policy advocacy and national campaign experience that will strengthen SPI’s overall political engagement strategy in Washington and beyond.

“Solana represents the cutting edge of what’s possible with blockchain technology,” said Colin McLaren, Engagement Director. “I’m thrilled to join SPI to educate policymakers on the real-world applications of Solana, and showcase how decentralized technologies can create positive economic and social impact across America. I look forward to continuing the whole-of-industry effort to build a bipartisan pro-crypto Congress and ensure American innovation is nonpartisan.”

Colin has operated at the intersection of financial services policy and politics. Most recently, Colin has served as Engagement Director at the Cedar Innovation Foundation, where he led policymaker, candidate, staff education, and third-party engagement for the crypto industry. He also serves as a founding board member of the American Innovation Project, a 501(c)(3) focused on empowering America's policymakers to encourage American innovation leadership.

“Colin’s proven ability to engage with policymakers on emerging technologies, coupled with his passion for crypto innovation, make him a perfect addition to our growing team,” said Solana Policy Institute CEO Miller Whitehouse-Levine. “Colin is able to thread the technicalities of blockchain with the stories of real-world impact — a unique skill that is only growing in importance as regulatory clarity enables increased innovation in the crypto industry; elevating case studies from the Solana ecosystem will be fundamental in our outreach to policymakers moving forward.”

Colin previously worked on the Biden, Harris, and Bloomberg campaigns, and served as a multiclient public affairs strategist specializing in crypto, asset managers, and fintech clients at FTI Consulting.
